In this painting, Huang Binhong emphasizes the soaring mountain range and the serene flow of water with both forceful and delicate brushstrokes. He also depicts a peaceful imagined scene with small dwellings and a lone fisherman, following traditional practices of Chinese ink painting.
As an avid traveler, Huang visited numerous famous mountains in China and created paintings based on his direct observation. Sketching onsite, he applied various ink tones and brushstrokes inspired by old masters, elevating the subject of his work into a collaboration between natural beauty and artistic inspiration.

Light mist envelops the water, the trees seem hazy;
Beyond the sky, how many layers of blue mountains does the road wind through;
Official post stations and bridges connect to Lipu;
People live and cultivate at Lotus Peak;
The land marks where ancient officials divided territories;
The source of the water connects to Xiang and Heng Rivers, traveling upstream by boat;
From here, explore the mystical and beautiful Yangshuo;
Looking into the deep clouds, a branch of cassia.
