Japanese Government (Emperor Meiji); presented to Ellen Luetta Tuck McLane (1855–1927) and John McLane (1852-1911), Governor of New Hampshire, 1905-1907, in appreciated for the hospitality shown to the Japanese Delegation at the Portsmouth Peace Treaty (Russo-Japanese War), 1905; to their son and his wife, Elisabeth Bancroft McLane (1891-1983) and John Roy McLane, Class of 1907 (1886-1969), Manchester, New Hampshire; to their children: John Roy McLane, Jr., Class of 1936 (1916-2001); Charles Bancroft McLane, Class of 1941 (1919-2008); Elisabeth (Lilla) McLane-Bradley (1921-2011); Malcolm McLane, Class of 1946 (1924-2008); and Mary Craig McLane (1928-2008); lent to present collection, 1983.
