Only a / few planes arrived at / destination due to motor / trouble and combat losses. (Nishi/ brought down Nov. 27, 1944 by / our D 38i); inscribed, in graphite, bottom right: Jap flyer shot/ down at Bay Bay / Nov. 1944/ Leyte P.F.; signed, in graphite, bottom right: Paul Sample; on reverse, inscribed, along top edge, in graphite there is a paragraph of artist notes beginning with...: Oct. 21st 1st entry - left Japan. (this is followed by some legible and some illegible words).
