Inscriptions
Inside the pot was envelope with the following inscription: "Cherokee Indian Reservation contains 66,000 acres, has a population of about 3500 Indians and mixed blood. Chief J.A. Tarquette (John A. Tahquette, Chief 1927-1931) has stone ax at Cherokee; Maud Welch (Maude French Welch, 1894-1953) makes good pottery - Sally Stamper (Sally Anne Crowe Stamper, 1875-1948) makes good baskets"
