Katanga Deserter Beaten Before Execution: this was the scene last Friday on the Kamina airstrip as former comrades kicked and beat recaptured deserters from the Katanga army as they were returned by plane to their former units for execution. The deserters had gone over to the Congolese army during recent border fighting. All were executed, November 6, 1961
