Depicting Sperry Glacier, located on Gunsight Mountain in Glacier National Park, this monumental aerial photograph enables the viewer to bear witness to glacial retreat. Focusing our attention on the sun-bathed rocks of the craggy mountain once covered by ice, the looming shadow evokes a sense of peril as the ice melts and the landscape changes at an alarming rate. Connecting scientific data to visual narratives through her artistic practice, Diane Burko’s work renders climate change issues not only visible, but accessible.
