Provenance

Mrs. Furman gave a large collection of hats to the Dartmouth College Drama Department Costume Shop in May 1984. With Mrs. Furman's knowledge Margaret Spicer transferred 25 of the best hats to the Hood Museum Costume Collection in 1984. Mrs. Furman understood that the hats transferred to the museum would be noted as a gift from her and not from the Costume Shop. The hats were with dates pinned to the hats not catalogued until April 2011.
