Metronome
Seth Thomas, American, 1786 - 1859

Metronome: pyramid shaped. Wooden case, metal mechanism. On front is a removable cover of wood. When opened, reveals scale and rod with a sliding marker on it. Scale is marked 40-208 beats per minute and in center has Italian terms for speed of music (presto, adagio, etc.). At bottom of scale marked "ST." Plaque on front reads "Seth Thomas" in gothic script. Brass key on side to wind. Stamped "MADE IN U.S.A." Botttom is fiberboard--stamped "6503 METRONOME No.6." Three felt feet. Instructions on inside of removable panel are entitled "Metronome de Maelzel."
